We Love Science!!

LOVE how enthusiastic the kids are about learning new things.  The students especially like science and it's a fun subject to teach!  Here are some pictures of the students learning about the wonderful world of science.  ;-)

Blubber Experiment

Why aren't penguins cold living in Antarctica?  We wanted to find out!  First, the students felt how cold the ice water was.  Brrr!!  Then, the students stuck a hand in a bag of "blubber" (Crisco) and tried the ice water again.  They discovered that the "blubber" kept their hands warm in the ice water!

Polar Animal Research Project

We researched information on our polar animals on the National Geographic Kids website.  We're learning how to use the computer and internet to find out information.

Magnets!

We learned that magnets are attracted to iron.  We also learned that magnets have north and south poles where the same poles will repel and opposite poles will attract.  We conducted an experiment to see whether various items in the classroom would attract to the magnets.  We were surprised to see that the pipe cleaners did!  Then, we made our own magnets out of flour, salt, water, and magnetic backings.
